Training

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Margaret Mead: Anthropologist 1901-1978.

Engaging training is just as important as engaging your service-users!

We can all do better. We communicate every day, but how much do we really hear? Noticing what someone is holding back, picking up on the subtle signs of a neurological problem, seeing what a person’s aggression is hiding. These are all skills of successful communicators – and they have little to do with our ability to talk or write.

Understanding the many obstacles faced by young, vulnerable and/or disabled individuals is key to ensuring effective participation in criminal justice proceedings. Are you and your staff confident you could pick up on a hidden disability? Do you feel confident communicating with a person in crisis? Would you like more practical strategies for supporting someone with hyperactivity, anxiety, or Aspergers?
